Last month we hosted an intimate dinner at New Century to celebrate 60 years of the iconic mid-century dancehall.
The original sprung dancefloor, vintage wood panelled walls and spectacular disco ceiling provided the perfect setting for the three-course dinner, where guests enjoyed a seasonal menu by Hot Buttered, using local ingredients like Yorkshire pecorino and Salford honey.
New Century is an esteemed part of Manchester’s musical history, so in homage to the space’s legacy Move Music’s soul neo trio covered a variety of old and new soul tracks, taking guests on a journey through the musical archives. The band provided the perfect ambiance for the evening, and showcased the hall’s state-of-the-art sound facilities.
The mid-century modern aesthetic of the space was complemented flawlessly by floral arrangements encompassing spring blooms of tulips, carnations and anthuriums in golden hues from burnt oranges to deep burgundy, designed by art-led floristry studio, Frog.
As the evening progressed the disco ceiling took centre stage, cycling through a kaleidoscope of colours to reflect the celebratory mood of the event and ensure that the night was one to remember.
